Meek Mill has had a surprising revelation about weed and his mental health.
Putting The Blunt Down
Recreational marijuana and rappers are a long-standing duo. With hip hop icons like Snoop Dogg, Wiz Khalifa, and Kid Cudi making entire hit songs about the potent plant, cannabis is clearly a staple of rap culture. However, Philly artist Meek Mill seems ready to retire his weed habit.
“I smoke weed everyday and get depressed and soon as I get high,” Meek Mill typed Saturday evening (Dec.8). “I be happy as hell sober lol it just helps me think deeper and more realistic lol.”

Meek Mill’s weed denouncement isn’t the first time he has spoken on drug use. In October, in an episode of “Million Dollaz Worth of Game,” the artist also spoke on the side effects of pill-popping.
“That shit is fentanyl. If you take Percs right now, you an asshole,” he said. “You can die off of just trying to get high, kill half your brain cells in your mind just by trying to get high.”

Weed, brought up by Meek Mill, is a popular attribute of music. Painkillers like Percocets, Adderal, and Codeine are particularly popular in the hip-hop scene. While fans don’t mind rapping along to lyrics about these drugs, they still carry fatal consequences. In 2017, ‘Beamer Boy’ rapper Lil Peep was found dead in his tour bus after overdosing on a mix of fentanyl and Xanax. This was also followed by the tragic death of Mac Miller in 2018, again an overdosing incident involving fentanyl.
Meek Mill Starts The Weed Conversation
Along with Meek Mill’s weed opinions, 2022 seems to be bringing on an overall change of heart for rappers concerning drug usage. Recently, Moneybagg Yo also tweeted about his declining use of lean and how his sobriety hasn’t halted his creative process.
“I use to think being sober would f*ck wit my creative process, I see dats just a mind thing cuz I been more active skin glowing and I been dropping nun but pressure,” the 30-year-old rapper typed. He ended the tweet with #nomorewokesha, a reference to his hit single about the dangerous drink.

Meek Mill’s weed tweet now raises the question of how far is too far when glorifying the use of drugs at the expense of mental health. While weed isn’t capable of the same daunting effects as pills or powder, the conversation is still alarming.
I’m about to start east coast on my weed business … but need a serious west coast plug … I’m talking ownership.. building my own company ground up! Get directly with me ASAP
