#FMSpotight: Cash Money Records’ Showcase: A Fascinating Behind-the-Scenes Look (Review)

Attending Cash Money Records’ Nowhere: Fresh Out The Vault was out of this world! Although I came across some difficulties (which stemmed from my lack of tech-savviness), everything still worked in my favor. With the help of kindhearted individuals, I was able to glide across the website with ease.

In addition, the website itself made the virtual experience feel more realistic. Cash Money Records matched the site’s futuristic aesthetic by displaying bright colors, sci-fi-inspired stages, and inventive music via Nowhere.

Overall, the team made it an enjoyable experience. The online gathering was innovative, engaging, and exuded positive vibes.

First, myself and other creative powerhouses watched a video that highlighted the history behind Cash Money Record’s artists and their music. Afterward, we were guided to another stage that still carried the astronomical theme. Within each cyber realm, the audience heard unreleased music from GSO PhatTowhidG 5abyJacqueesEighty8Casper Bluff, and Reese Youngn

Jacquees just so happened to drop his single a few days later with Queen Naija titled “Bed Friends.” Another interesting musical piece I heard was a Plies sample in Casper Bluff’s “My Shawty (feat. Coca Vango).” To put it into better terms, the song was catchy. He does an exceptional job of delivering melodic rhymes about a woman who’s captivated his heart.

Yet, the musician I was drawn to most was Towhid. The R&B vibes coupled with his sensual vocality and confident approach enticed me to hear more. I couldn’t help but sing along to his upcoming banger, “99-2000.”

What I can say about each artist is that they made the beat their own. Their lyrical content and smooth cadences ultimately drew me in. They spoke about love, good fortune, and everything in between.

Thanks to the Cash Money Records team for having me!
