JAY-Z Releases “Bam” Exclusively On TIDAL
As if its not already the Hard Knock Life emcee has the world buzzing off the platinum 4:44 album. Not to mention the release of “4:44 the footnotes“, which features different celebrities in the industry, and their views on relationships. The release of “The Story of OJ” and “4:44” music videos. The Marcy Projects-bred rapper can now add another to the list of visionary achievements, exclusively on TIDAL.
JAY-Z released the new video for his long awaited collaboration with Damian Marley, “Bam“. The track was named after the Sister Nancy sample used. However not only the sample, but Sister Nancy herself makes an appearance in the video, according to The Source Magazine. In her appearance, the legendary reggae artist talks about how her infamous “Bam Bam” song was simply a freestyle:
“It was a freestyle,” (Sister Nancy said.) “Bam Bam was just a freestyle, I didn’t write it. My music isn’t going anywhere, it’s timeless. Like with ‘Bam Bam’ even after I am gone where I am supposed to go it will still be here.”
In the video, the Welcome to Jamrock singer serves as a tour guide to Hov. The video takes place in Kingston, Jamaica. The two artists converse about the influence and culture of reggae in modern music to this day. They also pay homage to, as well as chat about, Damian‘s father, the legendary Bob Marley, and his contributions to reggae’s migration to the United States. Not to mention the No I.D. influenced track, mixed with exclusive verses from Hov, and a killer interpolated hook from Mr. Jr. Gong himself (courtesy of Jacob Miller’s “Tenement Yard“).
The new video was actually rumored in June, when Damian Marley sat down with Billboard.com to make clear speculations of the infamous, social media-spread picture of the Jamrock artist and Jigga (via dancehallhiphop InstaGram account). Damian said:
“Well, I did some work with him for some stuff that he’s working on,” (Marley says). “I’m not really sure of the details of his project in that sense, but we worked on some music together. I’ve been a fan of his music since he came out. We’ve never done any musical work together. So that was a joy to finally work together musically.”
