50 Cent Slams STARZ, “6 Months Till I Have Anything New”

The Queens legend is known for not holding his tongue, and obviously, nothing changed. 50 cents newest target is tv network Starz.

50 Cent VS. STARZ

50 Cent has succeeded not only in music but television as well. In addition to his hit tv series Power, BMF and For Life have received critical and commercial acclaim. With several shows currently in development, you’d think 50 would have a good relationship with Starz. The million-dollar media company has been the network behind 50’s portfolio since Power premiered in 2014. But recently he’s been airing out grievances online.

According to the ‘21 Questions’ rapper, following the final four episodes of Power Book IV: Force none of his shows will air for six months.

This past weekend (Mar. 19) 50 reposted a fan-made TikTok and explained his frustration in the caption.

“I have 4 more episodes of FORCE, then I don’t have anything airing on STARZ for six months so y’all know the vibes,” he typed.

He continued, “FORCE is the highest rated premier of any show on the network. when they take too long to green light it, it pushes the production time line back. after tonight’s episode there are 3 left, April 10 it’s a wrap. Then 6 months till i have anything new.”

Trouble in paradise

Apparently, 50 and Starz are going through a particularly bad spell. Earlier this month (Mar. 1) 50 claimed he was finished with the network altogether.

“This is me packing my stuff, STARZ, Sucks, my deal is up over here I’m out.” He announced at the time. “They Renewed High town and FORCE is the highest rated show they have sitting in limbo. If I told you how much dumb sh*t I deal with over here. you would think they all went to school on a small yellow bus.”

It can’t be denied the 46-year-old has brought a ton of attention to Starz with his impressive lineup. Hopefully, everything can be straightened out so we can continue to get good content. One thing for certain, this NY icon isn’t afraid to demand his respect.

Put on your tinfoil hats and get ready for some wild claims. Everybody reflects on their path in life and wonders how small changes could have impacted it. The effects from everyday choices and happenstance ripple outwards in a butterfly effect. Today, Dijon Duenas is a successful RnB singer, but things could have turned out very differently. Somewhere out there in the multiverse is a version of Dijon topping charts and spitting straight fire, as a full-fledged rapper. This wasn’t meant to be in our reality. Instead, lil Dijon found himself in a rap battle with LaKeith Stanfield in Jr. High. The thrashing he received forever marred his perception of himself as a rapper. According to himself, this directly leads to him pursuing a different musical career.

Dijon Duenas’ Date with Destiny

The artist reminisced about his past in an interview with Pitchfork. Though some strange quirk of fate, both Dijon and Lakeith found themselves in the same Jr. High School. One day they duked it out at lunchtime, with their words instead of fists. The results of that conflict shattered Dijon’s perception of himself, “’He ruined me,’ Dijon says with a laugh. ‘He put the hit on my dream.’”

Sadly we don’t have any recordings of that battle, as entertaining as they would be. Nor was it the end for Dijon; he got knocked down but ricocheted off the ground. He transitioned into RnB, forming the duo Abhi/Dijon while in college. His most popular song, “The Dress,” has over seven million listens on Spotify.

Don’t Leave out LaKeith

There are two sides to every story. In the case of Dijon Duenas v Stanfield, LaKeith came out on top. Emboldened by his victory, LaKeith and his friends started their own record company… at 11 years old. Things changed however in High School when the then rapper discover a love of the theatre. He transitioned his performance skills to a different form of art and began pursuing a career. Today, the actor is famous for his roles in popular films such as Get Out and Straight Outta Compton, as well as his time playing Darius in the series Atlanta.

But who knows? Maybe we would have gotten into RnB if he had just gone to a different middle school.

Kerry Washington Paid Tribute to Michael K. Williams During Her 2021 Emmys Speech

In her speech at the 73rd Emmy Awards, Kerry Washington paid tribute to Michael K. Williams. Williams passed away at the age of 54 earlier this month.

“The nominees for this next award astounded us with each of their uniquely remarkable, memorable performances this past year. But I’d like to take a moment to mention one nominee, in particular, Michael K Williams. Michael was—so crazy to say, was—a brilliantly talented actor and a generous human being who has left us far too soon. Michael, your excellence and artistry will endure. We love you.”

Michael K. Williams is an actor who played Omar Little in The Wire and Albert “Chalky” White in Boardwalk Empire. Williams was also nominated as a supporting actor in the drama category for his role as Montrose Freeman in HBO’s Lovecraft Country.

Before Sunday night’s ceremony, tributes poured in from Ava DuVernay, Niecy Nash, The Wire creator David Simon, Wendell Pierce, and Riz Ahmed. 

Williams was found dead in an NYC apartment on September 6th. Investigators found heroin on the death scene, and an overdose might be the possible cause of death. Williams planned to go to the Emmys this year.

According to a police source of the New York Post, “No foul play indicated” at the scene of the death. “No forced entry; the apartment was in order.”

Award Winning Actor Michael K Williams found Dead In his NYC Apartment

The star we all know and love from over two decades on the big screen has passed away. Michael K. Williams, best known for his stellar performance in “The Wire” as Omar Little, was found dead Monday afternoon. The cause of death is unknown, though rumor says it is due to a drug overdose in his NYC penthouse.

According to a relative, Williams did not show up to an event on Friday. Since no one had heard from him over the weekend, friends and associates decided to check on him Monday. NY Post reports, he was found unresponsive and cold, there was what appeared to be heroin on the table as he laid face down on the floor.

 

Just a few months prior, Williams delivered a powerful tribute at the memorial of DMX who had just passed earlier this year of a drug overdose. “It was an honor DMX and I, Jada we just some nappy-headed boys from these greedy streets of New York City. We went after our dream, and we accomplished it. If anybody knows my story I and X are cut from a similar cloth. On some personal shit,” Williams told BET, as he expressed his grief to lose a loved one.

 

Williams’s roles brought struggles

However, he shared a similar struggle with DMX.  Of course, most of us know of DMX’s struggles with drug addiction, and Williams openly told NPR back in 2016 that he did as well. “When I wear these characters to the extent I have to wear them to, that energy has to go somewhere,” he said. Indeed, the dark energy of Omar Little, that hit a little too close to home, (per NPR). Williams had expressed the toll of playing the dynamic Little being one of the causes of his drug use.

 

We pray for his family’s healing and peace in this difficult time.

Lil Dicky Takes Down “White Dude” Video from Youtube

Lil Dicky removed “White Dude” From Youtube, claiming he was not proud of the satirical song.

Dave Burd, who goes by the stage name Lil Dicky, sat down for an interview with GQ, where he spoke briefly about his past music and decisions. On the topic of satirical songs that boosted him to fame, Burd did not feel as proud of them as others may. “White Dude” is a song where Burd talks about the privilege he has for being a white male. He expressed how happy and lucky he felt that to be a “white dude” instead of another race or gender in the song.

“I don’t like making jokes I’m not proud of.”

Burd didn’t seem embarrassed or regretful for the song or the video, but simply just not a fan of it. “It just didn’t feel like a joke I was proud of,” he said in the interview. He attributed his growing maturity to the friends he met while filming his FXX show Dave. He understood struggles, specifically black struggles, after having real conversations with his close friends of other races. Because of this, Burd was less fond of the satire he brought to the issues in the past.

“I’m very confident that if I had 10 hours to spend with somebody, that they would like me.”

Burd admitted that he wanted to be a comedian because he wanted people to like him and constantly sought that. This reflects on his feelings about the “White Dude” song and why he has done a lot to change his image in recent years. Hopefully, this will come out more in season two of his hit show Dave, which will release on FXX on June 16 and Hulu the next day.

Glee Has Been A Blessing And A Curse in Its Own Way

Glee has always been such an inspirational and fun show for everyone to watch. Within the television series, the characters all had different identities with different struggles, such as sexual identities and race. Yet, all of the New Directions members managed to be united as one as they sang together, which makes the show inspirational. The show has also been labeled as a curse due to numerous deaths of actors during and after the remarkable show ended. With Naya Rivera’s recent death, many fans have been rewatching the show as a way to remember her. In light of Rivera (Santana Lopez), Cory Monteith (Finn Hudson), and Mark Salling (Noah Puckerman), who have all passed, here are some of the best hip hop Glee covers!

“Run The World (Girls)”

Back in season three, Santana and Brittnay were an item. They became united in emphasizing the importance of girl power and sexual relations between women which motivated the performance. Brittnay was in charge of making a statement of girl power by using a flash mob. The performance was for the entire school, motivating others to make positive changes, and to vote for Brittnay.

“Bust A Move”

Actor Matthew Morrison, also known as Will Schuester kicked off the performance during season one. He showed his kids what old school hip hop really is by busting a move. Schuester took the lead in the song, while glee club members accompanied him with vocals! It shows how hip hop can really bring people together, no matter what age. 

 

“Empire State of Mind”

For the premiere of Glee’s second season, the original glee members performed as a group to showcase their talents, encouraging others to join. Encouragement was done through hip hop, attracting eyes and newer member Sam Evans, portrayed by Chord Overstreet. This is definitely one of the best glee covers for the whole team. It gave everyone a chance to shine in the song through various solos. 

There’s More Hip Hop Where That Came From

Throughout the show of glee, the actors have performed all genres of music. More hip hop songs presented on the show, from old school to new school. A few examples are “Doo Wop”, “Hall of Fame”, and “Blame It On The Alcohol”. Glee and its amazing actors along with their legendary covers will not be forgotten.
