The Twitterverse has been erupting lately with the news that SHEIN clothes contain lead. While some people are outraged by this discovery, others are defending the brand.
How Do Customers Feel About Finding Out SHEIN Clothes Contain Lead?
If you’ve been living under a rock or just don’t care about fashion, you may not know what SHEIN is. The website/app offers affordable and trendy clothing for men, women, and kids. But recently the company has found itself in some hot water. There has been several allegations that SHEIN’s clothing contains hazardous chemicals and substances. And because of this people have claimed that SHEIN is an unethical brand for human health.
According to recent studies different brands are using chemicals that act as a stain-resistant. And keeps their prices cheap. When SHEIN clothing was tested the contained phthalates and more than 20% of lead, which is the recommended amount for fashion garments. Because of these findings the company has refunded customers who purchased the contaminated clothing. And asked for an investigation into the purchase. But SHEIN did say that you can wash the clothes and use them.
However, many customers are concerned with what these harmful chemicals mean for them and their loved ones. Chemicals such as lead not only decrease the life of clothes, but produce hazardous waste more importantly. And this is not only toxic to humans, but also other living organisms. Just like with many other controversial topics people took to Twitter to express their concerns with SHEIN clothing. Naturally, there are two sides to every story and some people were not afraid to defend the brand. Causing a full on Twitter debate.
“Shein has lead in their clothes.”
“Other brands have lead in their clothes too! Why are you always picking on Shein!”
Like…if you know of other brands using lead or uranium or mercury or whatever, add them to the damn thread!
