Victory Yet Again! Cardi B Wins Defamation Lawsuit Against MAGA Supporters

During Cardi B’s recent court appearances, she heard nothing but positive news. After winning a multi-million dollar defamation case against blogger Tasha K earlier this year, the Bronx rapper is looking to win a third straight victory against MAGA supporters this time.

Altercation Happens

After a verbal altercation in the Hamptons in September 2020, three New York City beachgoers filed a lawsuit against Cardi and her sister Hennessy Carolina. A judge dropped the case on Friday (Mar 25). One wore a “Make America Great Again” hat among the three individuals present. They say Hennessy spat on them, insulted and threatened them.

According to the three people, Hennessy refers to them as “racist, MAGA supporters,” and calling them “racist” is offensive. To sum it up, the three people sued for assault and battery. Cardi B, who wasn’t there, posted a video of the whole thing on Twitter. In Cardi’s view, Hennessy and her girlfriend were the targets of harassment, trying to protect themselves.

“Nooooo that big pink man was harassing my sister girlfriend to move her car for no reason,” she began. “Then my sister came there had a back and forth and they stood quit when she Wip that phone out. They was harassing 2 Women ! Ya going to catch the right f**kin one !”

Another Lawsuit Victory For Cardi B

In the end, the judge sided with Cardi and Hennessy. He said “racist” is a general insult and doesn’t count as slander. Additionally, the assault and battery charges were also dropped. However, according to the judge, it’s unclear if Hennessy meant to spit on those three people. As a result, even in the plaintiffs’ lawsuit, the judge said there was no mention of that purpose.

As a result of this victory, Cardi’s long list of wins continues to grow. Furthermore, the rapper took to social media on Thursday (Mar 24) after the Recording Industry Association of America announced that all 14 tracks from her debut album Invasion of Privacy received platinum status. Notably, she’s the first artist ever to get a platinum plaque for every song on an album.

Tokyo 2020 Olympics to Feature Refugee Olympic Team

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) announces the Olympic Refugee Team that will compete in Tokyo this year.

The 2020 Olympic Games – taking place this year – will feature a refugee team for the second Olympics in a row. The team, which boasts 29 athletes competing in 12 sports, is nearly three times the size of the Rio squad from five years ago.  Representing 11 countries and training in 13 various host countries, the crew is now officially Tokyo bound; and it is well deserving.

“They are an exceptional group of people who inspire the world,” said UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi.

According to IOC’s website, the official acronym for the Refugee Olympic Team is EOR. This models the French name équipe olympique des réfugiés. The inclusion of EOR for a second run at the games is not just a win for global athletes, but for the world as a whole. The unprecedented circumstances that have literally plagued us for the past year have been daunting, to say the least. Yet subtle victories like this feel like a much needed and well-deserved breath of fresh air.

Best of luck to the EOR athletes.
