Following 13 seasons on “The Wendy Williams Show,” Wendy Williams calls it quits for good. In the show’s final episode, guest host and actress Sherri Shepherd called Williams an “icon” and commended her long tenure on daytime television.

While speaking to TMZ Live, the 57-year-old star lifted her swollen leg to show fans how her lymphedema battle has progressed since she stepped down as host of “The Wendy Williams Show” on June 17.

The Mayo Clinic describes lymphedema as a lymphatic system blockage. The lymphatic system is an integral part of the immune and circulatory systems.

In 2019, Williams disclosed her diagnosis after pap pictures revealed swollen ankles. She also has Graves’ disease, which causes the thyroid to overproduce hormones, according to the Mayo Clinic.

As for Wendy Williams’ retirement from “The Wendy Williams Show,” she confirmed that she will guest host for an hour or two on “The View.”

Does Wendy Have a Particular Career Path in Mind?

Furthermore, Williams stated that she intends to pursue a new career as a podcast producer or as a designer of sneakers tailored specifically to lymphedema patients. “Maybe sneakers,” Wendy said. “You know I’ve been on HSN and QVC, so maybe I’ll do something with that or something else.”

However, time and money are the determining factors for her decision.

“When you’re famous, podcasts will make more money for me, being famous, than doing the ‘Wendy Williams Show,’” she said. “Where will I go? I’m not sure, Europe, France, wherever I want to go,” she told TMZ Live.

TMZ asked her how she was doing “physically,” and she responded that she was “doing better than” anybody. A video from TMZ of Wendy out in NYC on Monday night indicates that Wendy is doing well.

All iconic props from “The Wendy Williams Show,” which aired in 2008, have been thrown away. According to a production source, “The wigs are still there since she didn’t come and get them, so they’re being thrown out.”
