Yaya Mayweather is at risk of facing 20 years in prison. The mother of NBA Youngboy’s seventh child, Mayweather was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. According to The Source, she allegedly stabbed one of NBA Youngboy’s baby mothers, Lapattra Lashai Jacob.
The assault happened in April of 2020 when Mayweather caught Youngboy cheating, resulting in major injuries.
This crime Yaya Mayweather committed could result in 99 years of prison. Released on bail with a $30,000 bond, Mayweather could still serve up to 20 years behind bars if convicted, reports Capital Xtra.
The on-and-off couple share one child together, named Kentrell Jr., born this past January. Although Mayweather was attached to the rapper, the couple ended their relationship before the birth of their son. Recently, she went live on Instagram to share that she’s the “happiest she’s ever been before” and “loves being a mother.”
On the other hand, the Never Broke Again rapper is currently sitting behind bars as his bond was denied. Following multiple charges of gun possession in Louisiana, NBA Youngboy will remain in jail until his trial.
Amid facing a court battle, Yaya has not yet addressed the assault allegations publicly.
Back when the incident occurred, Floyd Mayweather, Yaya’s father and legendary boxer, expressed his feelings about his daughter’s arrest via Instagram.
“Never claimed to be perfect, but I strive to be the best father possible,” said Floyd Mayweather. It is unclear as to whether or not he was defending his daughter.
