By making a no contest plea at Wednesday’s court hearing, The Weeknd has managed to avoid the prison system after punching an officer, in Las Vegas, earlier this year. However, the “I cant Feel My Face” crooner was slapped with a few consequences for his violent behavior. A ruling has been made with orders to complete an alcohol evaluation and anger management, pay one thousand dollars to an injured officer fund, and complete 50 hours of services in the community. Luckily for the Canadian native, Abel Tesfaye, the judge’s ruling will allow him to complete the 50 hours with a non-profit group in his hometown.
Back in January, at the Las Vegas Cromwell Hotel, The Weeknd was in a physical altercation. The chaos caused hotel staff to become alarmed, therefore calling for assistance of higher, legal authority. Once officers made their way on site and witnessed the fight, Mr. Tesfaye was taken into an elevator where he’d then assaulted a cop, punching him in the head. Moments later, the singer was taken into custody and booked in a Las Vegas jail.
But, if he complies with all new court orders and keeps his hands clean this case will certainly be dismissed.
Man, it must be nice to be a celebrity. Mad or not, if I ever punch a cop my family and friends may as well make a Go Fund Me account for all the money I’ll need on my books, for commissary. Because, I’m sure I’d be sentenced to way more than $1000 dollars and 50 hours of community services.
Nonetheless, as a part of pop culture, I am proud to announce that this ruling makes the The Weeknd totally available to continue making and putting out hit records, with no stipulations! Woo-hoo. FM wishes you well, Abel. And, hope that your 50 hours go by quickly.
Shut up, Shabetti Bashazz
