Thundercat has made his acting debut in Star Wars: The Book of Boba Fett. His previous acting experience is only as the voice of “Grune the Destroyer” in the Cartoon Network series ThunderCats Roar.
Thundercat joins for “Chapter 4: The Gathering Storm” of the Disney+ series. He plays an unnamed body modification artist. In the credits, the character was called “the Modifier”.
The body modification artist acts like a back-alley doctor. In the episode, Boba Fett (played by Temuera Morrison) goes to him to save future ally Fennec Shand’s (played by Ming-Na Wen) life. At first, he does not care, but after learning that she is dying and is given extra credits, he turns around and immediately starts working on her. He does not return for the rest of the episode.
Will Thundercat return?
Thundercat’s character most likely will not appear again. This is because he is a very minor character in a flashback. The only part of the character that can be worth diving more into is his morality. Did he save Fennec because she was dying or was it only because of the money? Or was it a mixture of the two? But even then, this idea is a recurring trend within the show.
The end of the episode even tackles this idea head-on, with Fett saying that the others will not betray him because he is offering a better deal than the rival gang. It does not matter whether they are being moral or self-interested since both options lead back to him.
“Thank you, John, Dave, Rob and the family at Disney and Star Wars for giving me a chance, I have loved Star Wars my whole life,” Thundercat shared. “I am happy to be part of its legacy.”
