Tory Lanez Drops 10 Song Project Called Loner

Published

Tory Lanez‘s (@torylanez) highly anticipated rap capsule Loner is out now, despite a slight setback. The 10-song project is the first of many, and features 42 Dugg, Lil Wayne, Swae Lee, Rich The Kid, Lil Wayne and Tyga. Artists Melii and VV$ KEN also made appearances on the project, and belong to the same label as Tory, One Umbrella.

The project was set to come out December 18th, but after posting about it on social media, Tory delayed the release. The 8 track project soon became 10 due to his loyal fanbase.

“Now, the only reason we’re having to wait a couple of extra days is because that day that I told y’all to put 50,000 comments under this post and I’m going to add 2 new songs to this capsule, y’all really did that sh*t. And I really had to add 2 new songs to the capsules. I had to push my sh*t back a little bit,” he said.

The 28-year-old also informed fans that his capsules will come more frequently because they’re not albums, so he can drop them whenever he wants.

Lanez’s Previous Work

Loner is Tory’s first work since DAYSTAR, which got lots of hate from the media. On the first track of DAYSTAR, “Money Over Fallouts”, he denies shooting Megan Thee Stallion in the foot. Many critics viewed his decision to release an album instead of apologizing to Megan as particularly insensitive given the recent political climate.

Complex spoke of the album as “a project too contemptible to be evaluated on any musical scale” and “much worse than just a terrible album”, recognizing the way Lanez uses his platform to justify his abuse of black women.

Despite all the hate, DAYSTAR debuted at number 10 on the US Billboard 200 chart.

Boink Boink Music Video

Lanez also supplied fans with new visuals for the track “Boink Boink” with Rich The Kid and VV$ Ken. Like we’ve seen before, he brought humor and eccentricity into the video. In one frame he’s dressed in baker’s attire, and in the next he’s seated in front of a huge breakfast at a diner. The video features tons of cash, as well shopping bags from designer stores and plenty of women, of course.
