Travis Scott Has One Condition Upon Accepting SuperBowl Gig
The 53rd annual Superbowl will air on February 3rd, 2019 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. Along with the team rivalries and famous commercials, the half-time show is a big draw for audiences across the country. This year, Maroon 5 is headlining the 15 minute concert. The decision faced criticism since the headliner has no tie to the city of Atlanta. After months of speculating the guest spots, Travis Scott and Big Boi confirmed that they will be appearing during the band’s performance. Big Boi, an Atlanta native, calmed some of the controversy about Maroon 5 not being from Atlanta.
Amid backlash, Travis Scott agreed to join the band during the show if the NFL made a joint donation to the charity of the rapper’s choice. The charity is a social justice organization called “Dream Corps“. The mission of the organization is to “close prison doors and open doors for all” The grammy-nominated artist made a deal with the NFL where they agreed to donate a total of $500,000 to Dream Corps in collaboration with Scott.
There is a petition going around to have all three performers follow the lead of Colin Kaepernick and kneel during the national anthem.
Check out what fans are saying about the Travis Scott announcement:
I love Travis Scott, I would approve The super bowl preformamce if he proposed the NFL to match Kylie Jenner lip line sales, that what I call a challenge!
I respect Travis Scott’s decision to perform at the Super Bowl due to the fact he required them to donate to a great cause. I also respect Rihanna’s decision to boycott. There’s no ONE way to demand social justice.
