Louis Vuitton premiered its Men’s Fall/Winter 2022 collection on January 20. This is a unique fashion show due to it having two hip-hop stars involved with the production. The late Virgil Abloh designed the clothes, while Tyler the Creator did the music.
The fashion show was in remembrance of Virgil Abloh, who tragically passed away in November. He died of a rare form of cancer at the age of 41.
The show consists of previous pieces that Abloh had done over the years. The show can be watched for free on YouTube or via their website.
Tyler confirmed his involvement with the fashion show through Twitter after someone asked him if the music was him. He wrote “Bingo” and subseqquently added that he felt “blessed”.
On Instagram, Tyler the Creator thanked the people that he was working with, saying that he loved them. The picture was of the show’s string section, which included members of the Chineke! Orchestra.
Shortly after Abloh was reported dead, Tyler talked about him on Instagram. He called Abloh a cheerleader for himself and various other artists. “I’ll keep pushing and trying things while leaving the door open. He’ll shake those pom-poms. we’ll keep that on loop. safe travels.”
More recently, he talked about Abloh again. During an interview with Fast Company, Tyler said “I wanted him here so bad to see like, ‘Hey, look what I did. Because I wanted him to just say, ‘Fire.’ And I wanted him to know.”
