Will Smith headlines on July 4 for a generous gesture toward New Orleans citizens
Independence Day actor Will Smith, a.k.a Mr. July, recently made a sizable donation so that the citizens of New Orleans could have a fireworks display on actual Independence Day. According to news outlets, New Orleans was not planning to release fireworks on July 4, which follows their 2021 cancellation due to health concerns amidst the COVID-19 Pandemic. Will was on location in “the Big Easy” filming for a movie at the time. When he heard the news he jumped to action, donating about $100,000 to fund the fireworks display.
Will Smith is a philanthropist at heart
Will has a history of making contributions to those in need. To his record, he is found to support at least 17 charities or foundations and 14 causes. So, it is no wonder that Will reached out to do this for the people of New Orleans. This is an incredibly heartfelt initiative, given our experience over the last year. While not a necessity, it was a wonderful gift and opportunity for 390,000 citizens to see the sky light up in celebration.
Will stays busy
Smith ensures that he keeps busy. As sources say, he is currently working on the film Emancipation. He is reportedly listed as the star of this slave narrative on film. But Smith is not merely playing a character, he is portraying a historical figure. “Peter,” Will’s character, is the embodiment of Joey McFarland, the man behind the haunting July 4, 1863, published photo. Smith will bring to life the account of the man with the tree of scars on his back.
In conclusion, Big Will proves time and time again that he is not above giving, especially where it concerns the happiness and welfare of others.
