A Pennsylvanian woman was arrested after loudly playing an explicit version of Cardi and Megan’s “WAP” at a pool.

A woman named Stephanie Crute was at the pool with her young daughters when someone called the police. According to sources, she was listening to an uncut version of “WAP” on a Bluetooth speaker. And, we know how the rest goes. The lyrics to “WAP” aren’t exactly neighborhood friendly. When the police arrived on scene and the woman was asked to leave, she would not. Not only would she not leave, she reportedly went on the attack.

Then Ms. Crute’s daughter got in on the action.

As the police dealt with Ms. Crute, her daughter joined in attacking the officer from the back. A source indicates that reportedly one of the officers was seen at a hospital for injuries resulting from the skirmish. As a result, Ms. Crute was brought up on several charges. But, on Monday after posting bail, she was sent home and is now waiting for an August 3rd hearing.

Cardi and Megan have received a lot of attention for “WAP.”

In 2020,  because of “WAP,” Cardi and Megan won an A.M.A. for the favorite song in the Rap/Hip-hop category.  Another source indicates that “WAP” also had the greatest number of streams ever for a song in its first week of airplay. If anything, these successes demonstrate that fans were definitely on board with the liberating track. It’s also no secret that, given the explicit content of the fever smash, negative news would follow because, simply, not everyone is a fan. And although freedom of expression is an essential part of civil society, so is the respect for the varying beliefs of others. And that makes this situation, if anything, a cautionary tale.
