Maryland Woman Dies In Queens Basement After Butt Lift Surgery Goes Wrong
Kelly Mayhew, 34, dies after failed silicone butt lift procedure in Queens. Mayhew and her mother Latrice Mayhew drove from Maryland to a New York basement inside a two family house that also doubled as plastic-surgeon’s office where the procedure took place.
After receiving silicone injections in her buttocks, Mayhew started having difficulty breathing, her mother told police, according to the Daily News. Her mother began to perform CPR, but the suspect ran from the house and fled in a gray SUV, the Daily News reported.
Mayhew’s mother called 911 herself and when the police arrived, the paramedics had already begun performing CPR. That wasn’t enough so they rushed Kelly to St. Johns Hospital, where Mayhew was pronounced dead.
Mayhew worked for media company BET and they sent out a statement:
“We are saddened by the death of our colleague and friend Kelly Mayhew. Our heart goes out to her family and we extend our deepest sympathies for their loss.”
