XXXTentacion’s “Sad!” Eclipses 1 Billion Streams

The deceased rapper XXXTentacion continues to break new ground as his popular song “Sad!” eclipsed 1 billion streams on Spotify alone. The rapper out of South Florida rose to a new level of fame when he released his album ‘?’. The album featured his most popular tracks to date with the album holding songs like “Changes” and “Moonlight” in addition to “Sad!”.

“Changes” and “Sad!” were both released on March 1, 2018 prior to the drop of the album as a whole. The spotlight that these two songs were afforded certainly aided in the climb and numbers that “Sad!” was able to achieve. A lot of credit goes to producer John Cunningham who collaborated with X frequently. He described the song as an upbeat, “Sad” piece of music that allowed Tentacion to explore meaning.

Cunningham also claimed that, after recording, both he and X knew that it was something special. He followed up saying, “All you can do is go on your instincts and hope other people like it… The reactions to that song were unlike anything we’d ever seen, so we knew people would like it, but we didn’t know it would land No. 7. That shit’s crazy.”

The controversial rapper, who has had run-ins with the law on numerous occasions, has a very polarizing image in both positive and negative directions. He was at the center of sexual assault charges leading many fans to attack his personality and ignore his music. However, after the Parkland shooting X has made many efforts to right some of his wrongs by lobbying against gun violence and in favor of gun laws protecting the kids.

As of now “Sad!” sits at 1,004,994,769 streams, with “Jocelyn Flores” also sitting just over a staggering 850 million streams.
