It is now nearly four years since the death of Florida rapper XXXTentacion. The 20-year-old, real name Jahseh Dwayne Ricardo Onfroy, was murdered in Deerfield Beach, Florida, at a motorcycle dealership. Almost four years on, no trial date has been set for his alleged murderers and the motive is still unclear. However, X’s estate continues to keep his music alive through sporadic album releases, full of unreleased or remastered material of the late rapper. 2018 saw the release of Skins, with Bad Vibes Forever following a year later but, while these were mired in controversy and bad blood, the fans clung to them. Now, the fans are getting a little more.

XXXTentacion’s “Vice City”

On what would have been XXXTentacion’s 24th birthday, his estate announced another release on Twitter.

X’s estate thanked fans for their “love and support” and said “his impact continues to be as powerful as it’s ever been.” The estate went on to state that they are “planning an exciting 2022”, kicking it off with the release of X’s song, “Vice City”, a track from his early days. The release is set for this Friday, Jan. 28. Per the estate:

“One of our first initiatives is to get as much of X’s music from his earliest days as an artist up on all DSPS. We have been working diligently to clear as much of it as possible, and we are excited to announce the first release this Friday with ‘Vice City’ hitting all streaming services for the first time.”

Exciting as it is to fans, the estate went on to clarify further releases, saying: “We will continue to release music as we clear it, and are making sure we do it in a way that stays true to how X released each song originally.”

Fans are then directed to visit an official website, MakeOutHill, as well a Twitter account under the same name. Updates and news will be posted and shared at these sites. In addition, the estate addressed the question of an XXXTentacion documentary, saying that updates will be shared “soon”.

If this Friday is a little too far away, listeners can always check out “Vice City” on YouTube. Uploaded in June of 2016, the video has racked up over 57.4 million views.
