YG Drops “FTP (F*ck The Police)” as an Anthem for Protesters

“Im tired of being tired of being tired” rapper YG exclaims in his new single “FTP (F*ck The Police)“. Almost every artist in the Hip Hop genre is stepping up and doing what they can to help change this country, but only one has put out an actual song that represents the feeling that so many have at this point. In addition to all the spoken word pieces and social media freestyles, YG has made an official anthem for the protests surrounding the George Floyd killing.
This could be huge in terms of uniting the massive fanbase of Hip Hop and rap music. By following in the footsteps of rap legends, N.W.A., YG may have offered something that can summarize all of the outrage and give people an emotional outlet in this time of extreme hardship.
The song features a catchy beat with a simple and to-the-point chorus that could be a hit song even without these social circumstances. The lyrics speak of the injustices that Black people have faced and the fear that many feel in regards to dealing with the police, as well.

After dropping the track, YG explained that he could not wait for the record label to put the song out and did it himself. He also announced that he will be cancelling his protest on Hollywood and Vine because he does not want any of his fans to get hurt following him. Instead, YG has stated that he is working with the Black Lives Matter movement to give a peaceful demonstration of protest.

Hopefully this song will open the eyes of other artists so that they too will use their music to help invoke reform.
