The death of Young Dolph, a 36-year-old rapper, has left many heartbroken. Dolph’s longtime partner Mia Jaye took to social media for the first time since Dolph’s murder. She took a moment to thank everyone for their love, support, prayers, and messages. She’s coping with the grief as best as she can while asking God to give her strength.

Young Dolph’s Family

Young Dolph with his family

Dolph and Jaye have been together for over a decade. They shared two children, 7-year-old Tre and 4-year-old Aria. It makes the devastating loss even more heartbreaking, having to reveal to their children that their dad is not coming home. According to Jaye, she has not shared that information with the children as of yet. She is struggling with finding a way to do so.

Dolph loved his family very much. While expressing gratitude, Jaye also declared her love for Dolph in her Instagram story. “Adolph, I love you with all my heart and soul.” Death is inevitable, this we know, but it hits much harder knowing that it didn’t have to happen. Senseless murders like this happen every day. Life is no longer valued, and gunmen don’t think about their actions and how they will affect others before pulling the trigger.

Effects of Gun Violence On Children

According to countless studies, children get exposed to gun violence, and it can severely impact them. It can leave lasting emotional scars, as well as psychological damage. Anger, withdrawal, post-traumatic stress, and desensitization to violence are some of gun violence’s effects on children.

Dealing With Traumatic Grief

It is harrowing to lose those you love to gun violence. It’s a process that lasts a lifetime. There’s a difference in losing a loved one to an illness because you can prepare for that. Someone you’ve had to let go due to gun violence means someone is leaving instantly. A homicide may shatter the child’s assumption about the world as a safe place. Children will struggle to understand why something so unimaginable can happen. It can cause confusion and intense emotion in everyone involved, especially children. An honest explanation is essential to the child’s healing and grieving process. The best way to explain this to a child is to offer direct information, then ask if they have any questions.
