Young Thug (@thuggerthugger1) has been talking up a storm about other artists recently. On the latest episode of the Barstool podcast Million Dollaz Worth of Game, the rapper made several controversial comments. First he talked about Drake’s success.
YT said, “I was talking to the youngins the other day…a Hip Hop artist you can only go so far…. Once you’re Drake level, there’s nothing else you could do. At this point, they’re waiting on you to fall down. It’s no next level unless you go pop or something else. So, I’m always focused on the next level.”
Certified Lover Boy is set to come out in early 2021, according to Drake, and lots of people have been on the topic of the direction of his career. YK Osiris recently said on Clubhouse that although Drake is one of the top universal artists, many people still don’t know who he or Lil Wayne are. Osiris caught backlash for the comment, and many people on the panel disagreed, joking “someone could go to Mars” and still, the two rappers would be known.
YT Comments About Jay-Z
Thugger came forward to clarify comments he made about Jay-Z on the podcast. His remarks suggested that Jay-Z doesn’t have 30 songs that fans would be able to sing word-for-word. Thug claimed that his own songs are anthems that whole arenas would be able to rap at the drop of a hat. When everyone in the room went silent, Thug backtracked by saying Jay-Z does have songs like that, and he wasn’t trying to pick on him specifically. He was “using him as an example” of rappers he’s seen perform where the majority of the crowd doesn’t know the song.
TMZ pointed out interesting facts about the two rappers. When comparing the two, “Jay’s catalog runs incredibly deep — he’s literally got 100 songs that have appeared on Billboard’s Hot 100 … 21 of which went Top 10, and 4 going #1. Young Thug, by contrast, has 4 Top 10s and two #1s.” It seems as though YT has no clue what he’s talking about nowadays.
