Yung Baby Tate brought a manifestation anthem with her breakout single “I Am“. Since then the rapper has been making serious moves including appearing on this season of Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta. Recently, Yung Baby Tate rocked the stage at last weekend’s Afropunk festival. Unfortunately, this performance came with some harsh criticism aimed at the rapper’s body and her revealing outfit. In true YBT fashion however, it didn’t faze her one bit. She did however, share an image of herself at the festival with a caption that praised women who have opted against cosmetic surgery.
I Am Healthy, I Am Wealthy
For days she’s been going back and forth with trolls and critics, but she finalized the conversation with the post. “As Queen Bey once said, ‘wanna see some REAL A$$?! Baby here’s your chance!’ Shoutout to all my natural bellied bodies,” wrote Tate. “I see you, I am you, I love you. No matter WHAT my body looks like, it is MINE and I love it! Please go project your insecurities onto a piece of paper, burn it, and throw it away. Then go look in the mirror and tell yourself how much you are loved.”

In an industry where image is a priority and insecurities are bound to surface, Yung Baby Tate has regularly faced criticism for deciding to show off all of her curves. Several co-signed her message, but many added that people can be proud of their surgically enhanced bodies, as well. Many public figures have caved in to the trend of liposuction and plastic surgery. It will surely be refreshing to see all natural representation in the industry. It would also be a step towards solving body image problems many celebrities suffer as well as the public.
