50 Cent is back with a new track, “Wish Me Luck.” The track features fellow heavy-weights Snoop Dogg, Moneybagg Yo, and Charlie Wilson on the soulful chorus.
50 Cent’s “Black Mafia Family”
The track will be part of the soundtrack to the upcoming Starz show Black Mafia Family (BMF). 50 Cent serves as executive producer for the show, which follows the true story of brothers Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory and Terry “Southwest T” Flenory. The pair built an influential crime family in Detroit in the late ‘80s. In short, according to Deadline Hollywood, the show will explore how their partnership spanned from the drug trade to the hip-hop world and beyond. Above all, the series will stay rooted in “love, family and capitalism in pursuit of the American dream.”
50 Cent has been open about his excitement for the new project. Sharing a teaser from the show on Instagram, 50 captioned the post “TV will never be the same.”
Telling Their Story On “Wish Me Luck”
“Wish Me Luck,” comes from the perspective of a young crime boss. 50 raps about the stress of the lifestyle, spitting “I can’t have snitches in my circle/ I got real murderers around me.” The refrain sticks with a simple motto: although there are no guarantees in the fast life, “at least you can wish me luck.” Support from Snoop Dogg especially gives the track a classic, old-school feel.
On top of featuring on “Wish Me Luck,” Snoop Dogg has a recurring role on Black Mafia Family. The rapper will play the character Pastor Swift. Furthermore, the recurring cast features some of hip-hop’s biggest names, including Eminem as White Boy Rick and Kash Doll as Monique.
