Eminem will appear as a guest star in 50 Cent’s newest Starz drama, “BMF” (“Black Mafia Family”), with his pal and fellow Aftermath Records artist. According to the Wrap, Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Mathers, will play the infamous White Boy Rick in one episode of the series.
“I’m honored and appreciative of my good friend Em for supporting my new show ‘BMF,’ ” said 50 Cent in a statement. “We couldn’t do a show based in Detroit without incorporating the legend that is Eminem.”. Rick Wershe Jr., or “White Boy Rick,” was an FBI informant who ran weapons and drugs as part of a Detroit gang. The FBI dismissed him and arrested him for cocaine suspension. He was given a life sentence in prison, but at the age of 50, he was released in June 2020.
In the hip-hop world, Wershe’s legendary exploits have become gospel. “White Boy,” a documentary on his life debuted in 2017, as well as “White Boy Rick,” a film starring Matthew McConaughey that launched in 2018. “BMF” is based on the true story of Demetrius “Big Meech” and Terry “Southwest T” Flenory, who ascended from the streets of southwest Detroit in the late 1980s to form one of America’s most powerful crime families.
Eminem’s first on-screen acting appearance in 19 years
On Tuesday, 50 Cent shared a cool tidbit about the episode in which Eminem, 48, will guest star. The “Candy Shop” singer revealed that he directed Eminem’s episode and used de-aging technology similar to that used by filmmaker Martin Scorsese in his 2019 film “The Irishman.”. “I directed ‘BMF’ EPISODE 7 it is amazing. I used the same digital de-aging special effects they used in ‘The Irishman.’ To take @eminem back to his teenage years,” Fiddy wrote.
The iconic Detroit rapper’s last on-screen appearance was in the 2002 film “8 Mile.”. In 2003, Eminem received an Academy Award for Best Original Song for the gritty drama’s theme song, “Lose Yourself.”
“BMF” will air on Starz on September 26.
