Jay-Z Releases “The OJ Story” Video on YouTube

“The Story of OJ” another visual released off of the 4:44 album which has gone platinum in just one weeks time. Released on Tidal just a few days ago along with with Footnotes of “The OJ Story”. Jay-Z  explains the idea behind the video as well as the concept for the song. What exactly does The OJ Story mean? Jay-Z explains how the story is based on the notion that some black people reach a certain level of wealth or stardom and separate themselves from their culture. This is an ego trip we see time and time again. OJ Simpson is one example but as expressed on the Foot Notes some would look at Tiger Woods and Bill  Cosby as examples also,or rather examples of what happens when you no longer comply.

One of the most controversial videos releases , directed by Mark Romanek  who has recreated the Sambo character with Jaybo for the video to express that various forms of Colorism and racism that many races have been suffering from for years. “The OJ Story”  expresses how nothing changes when you get rich, the sad truth is some people will refuse to look beyond your race. Perhaps its time to start caring less about what’s not happening for our culture, lets not wait to be saved and save ourselves.
