Drake gives Bow Wow his praises: “If it wasn’t for you, there wouldn’t be no me.”

When Bow Wow came into Hip-Hop, he was six years old. A kid phenomenon with a bright future ahead of him, Bow Wow was very talented. Growing up in Bow Wow’s era, I took notice of that. When I went to see Like Mike in theaters as a kid, I asked myself, what can this kid not do? After counter appearances in movies, television, sold-out shows, and self-proclaimed ‘Mr. 106 N Park,’ you would think he would receive a little bit more credit.

As a result, he has not. Despite breaking many barriers, achieving accomplishments, and setting many trends, Bow Wow does not get enough credit or gratitude he deserves. Maybe it is his cockiness or his better than persona that may rub some people the wrong way. But think about it: If you accomplished what all Bow Wow has accomplished, would you be a little cocky too?

For instance, I was not surprised when Drake gave Bow Wow his praises. Yesterday, Drake was in celebration mode of completing an accomplishment. Three of his songs, “What’s Next”, “Wants And Needs,” featuring Lil Baby, and “Lemon Pepper Freestyle,” with Rick Ross, ALL debuted in the top three spots of the Billboard Hot 100 Chart. In one clip, Bow Wow and Drake are chatting with one another. In the second clip, Drake spoke highly of Bow Wow. “I had to link with Wizzle. Everybody wants to have drinks and everybody wants to celebrate and turn up and, you know, I just had to see Wizzle. I had to see Wizzle in person. If it wasn’t for you, there wouldn’t be no me. That’s why I’mma rock with y’all forever.”

After all, this could be very valid. If it was not for Bow Wow, then I am sure some rappers would not be here. He definitely is an icon and a true pioneer of Hip-Hop. Who should be given his roses now and not when he is no longer physically here with us. Yes, he can be over the top sometimes. Trust me, he gets under my skin as well. But it does not take away from me realizing how big of a figure he is or WAS in this industry. As noted, thank you for your contributions to Hip-Hop Bow Wow, in case nobody told you.
