Bill Burr Blasts The NFL, Accuses Them Of Hypocrisy Over BLM and Player Safety

Bill Burr, a popular stand-up comedian and host of the Monday Morning podcast, came after the NFL on his most recent episode. He discussed the league’s stance on the Black Lives Matter movement, accusing NFL commissioner Roger Goodell of hypocrisy.

The comments come in light of Goodell’s decision to extend the regular football season despite concern over player’s safety. The NFL has among the highest rates of Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (commonly known as CTE). CTE is caused by repeated head trauma, and is common among football players who continually suffer blows to the head.

“Dude, how funny is it that the NFL has BLM written on the back of their helmets as they also make the predominately black league play an extra football game every year after all the shit they know about CTE?” Burr observed.

Bill Burr: Valid or Reach?

Obviously, the BLM helmets did not sit well with Bill Burr, prompting him to highlight the NFL’s hypocrisy on the matter. You wouldn’t expect the league’s decision to extend the season, especially for a league with such a high population of Black athletes.

Bill Burr makes a valid point regarding the issue. According to Burr, the NFL should prioritize their players’ wellbeing if they actually support the BLM movement. Although the NFL publicly endorsed the movement, the move to extend the season stirs doubts over their true stance on the issue.

While fans are excited over the coming matches, we should pause and think about the implications. Is it fair for the NFL to add extra games at the risk of their players’ safety? Does the NFL truly support the BLM movement, or are they just out to make a profit at their players’ expense?
