A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie was arrested in London on Saturday night.

The New-York rapper made a steady rise with the release of his viral hit “Drowning” back in 2017, and has continued the momentum with hits like “Numbers” and “Look Back At It”. With all the success and the lifestyle that comes with fame, there can be a fair share of problems. Problems surely arose when A Boogie reportedly ended up in handcuffs, just before performing at London’s Wireless Festival. The rapper acknowledged the arrest on Instagram the following day, apologizing to fans unable to see him perform. The rapper explained that the arrest was based on a accusation against him from 2 years ago. He added, “I’m OK and I’ll try my best to make it up to you guys.”

A Boogie with Authorities

On the afternoon A Boogie was arrested, Wireless Festival organizers notified attendees that “an incident” involving the rapper took place but that he was safe, according to Metro.co.uk. Footage is now emerging of the rapper speaking to police during his arrest, notably being shared by DJ Akademiks.

It remains unclear why A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie is in handcuffs at this time. However, a Metropolitan Police spokesperson hinted in a statement to Metro.co.uk, “The arrest was made at the request of Greater Manchester Police, The man was released on bail to attend a Greater Manchester police station at a later date.” While A Boogie isn’t mentioned, the statement seems to address the incident. In the meantime, no charges have been filed so far.

News sources in London are contacting Wireless Festival representatives for comments, to no response.
