Benny The Butcher recently went on The Bootleg Kev Podcast to speak about his previous work and what fans can expect next. He unveiled to Bootleg Kev that he and Freddie Gibbs have talked about working on a collaborative album in the past. And from the sound of it, there may be a project coming soon from the duo.
“I feel like it’s gon’ happen,” he said, confirming that they’ve spoken about the collaborative project in the past.
He further explained that everything came together during the Grammys. But, due to one too many drinks, Gibbs couldn’t make it happen that night, at least not yet. Bootleg Kev also confirmed that Gibbs was under the influence, saying he was so drunk that he was dancing to Nelly at one point. “I’m gonna go tap back in about that, but we gon’ see,” Benny added. Given Freddie Gibb’s last album’s success, he and Gibbs have decided to have Alchemist behind the production.
This isn’t the first time that Benny Butcher has hinted at a collaborative project with Freddie Gibbs. During his time on Desus & Milo, he spoke about other projects that he’ll potentially be dropping soon, including a project with Conway.
“You might hear me and Spesh project. You might hear me and Gibbs project, me and Conway project. I’m staying in the studio and staying busy,” he said to Desus.
