BET to Honor Queen Latifah With the Lifetime Achievement Award

On June 27th, the BET Awards will take place! Taraji P. Henson will host this year’s award show. 

Queen Latifah will be the third-youngest artist to receive a lifetime achievement award at the BET Awards. The youngest artist to receive this award is Whitney Houston, who was 37 when she had honored this award back in 2001. The second youngest winner is Mary J. Blige received the award two years ago and was only 48.  Queen Latifah is 51.

What’s Special About This Award Show?

It will be a live-in-person award show.  June 27 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

Henson stated, “For more than 20 years, the BET Awards have been a celebration of Black creativity, art, and excellence.” The host also declared, “Returning life, this year’s show will be unlike anything we have ever seen before, and I am honored to be sharing the stage with so many powerful and prolific women in music and entertainment. The BET Awards will once again be at the forefront of Black culture.”

Queen Latifah’s Achievements

In addition to her role on “The Equalizer,” she has worked on other projects as well. Latifah was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the Award-winning Academy film, ” Chicago.” She was also involved in the projects Girls Trip, Star, and The Wiz Live! As well as Bessie.
