Beyonce Video Teases Upcoming Ivy Park Rodeo Line

Beyoncé Releases a Teaser for the Upcoming Ivy Park Rodeo Collection

Beyoncé posted a teaser for an upcoming Ivy Park Rodeo clothing line. The short presentation of the collection is on the Ivy Park YouTube channel.

The subject of the new clothing line is inspired by the history of Black cowboys and cowgirls. The statement from Beyoncé and Adidas reads: “Inspired by the inimitable style and undeniable influence of Black cowboys and cowgirls, the “IVY Park Rodeo” collection celebrates the formidable impact of Black men and women on American Western culture.”

Adidas also described its new collection as a “bold celebration of classic Americana reimagined for today.”

Black Cowboy Legacy

With Beyoncé starring in the commercial herself, there are also actual cowboys. Among them is Glynn Turman, Emmy-winning actor, horseman and rodeo champion. Turman is also a member of the Western Heritage Multi-Cultural Museum’s Hall of Fame in Texas.

Turman passed his legacy to his granddaughter, Melinda. While also a cowgirl and horseback rider, she works as school counselor. Glynn has been training Melinda since she was twelve years old.

Melinda also appears in the commercial and on the Ivy Park website with Turman. Part of her statement reads: “Passing on the legacy of the American Black Cowboy is very important to me. The life lessons I have gained working with horses has taught me humility, respect, and the ability to be vulnerable…I am blessed to represent a secret part of American history by being a modern-day Black cowgirl.”

Western Style

There are multiple pictures of people from the commercial on Ivy Park Instagram. One can read about Paloma Elsesser, an outspoken advocate for body acceptance in the fashion industry, or find out about Orville Peck. Orville is a country recording artist who’s openly gay and known for his deep baritone voice.

“Trending Western-style” seems to be a hot topic, even discussed by WSJ. Is cowboy fashion on the rise? Should we put it on “Westworld” and “Red Dead Redemption” popularity, or is the process reverse?
