Bobby Shmurda is not like other rappers and he’s going to make that known. The artist recently claimed he won’t make any drill music as he doesn’t want to be like everyone else.
According to HipHop Dx, Shmurda took to Instagram on August 7th, to let his followers know he won’t ever be a minion. Sharing a video of YouTuber Bashworld uplifting his song “Hoochie Daddy” Bobby says, “Don’t ever try to put me in a category or in a box you gonna hurt your head,” he wrote. “I do what Yall haters cant #Nahimsaying. i don’t do drill. I won’t ever be A minion Rrrrr and they can’t clone me really one of a kind.”
In a recent interview with All Hip-Hop the “Shmoney” rapper says his music is more like dancing music and admits he feels drill is much darker. He also mentions Chief Keef and how this new era of drill has stemmed from him.
“I’m not drill, I’m Shmurda music. It’s never drill. Shmurda music. Because the thing is, I feel drill is like the Chief Keef.”
He explains that many rappers came up from under Chief. Bobby continues,
“My sh*t is dancing music… Everything you want to do is going to dance to, I think drill music is more like… [dark music] that’s it. My sh*t is more music to dance but it’s real warrior music. It’s warrior music, champion music, alpha music. It’s Shmurda music. I’m saying that’s all Shmurda. It’s domination.”
In other related news, on Friday, August 5th, Bobby Shmurda released his first project since coming home from prison. The Bodboy EP consists of nine tracks that feature Rowdy Rebel and Fat Tony.
The EP is a tease to his debut album Ready To Live, which was planned to drop sometime this summer. This would count as Shmurda’s first solo project since his, Shmurda She Wrote, back in 2014. The EP debuted at number 79 on the Billboard 200 chart and included his hit singles “Hot N*gga” and “Bobby B*tch.”
