The law enforcement arrested the first alleged Young Dolph’s 32-year-old gunman, Cornelius Smith, last month for auto theft. The vehicle in question was the Mercedes’ Benz. It’s also the getaway car in Dolph’s murder.
The Mercedes’ was first stolen from a gas station on Nov. 10. This was only a week before the murder of Young Dolph. Police found the car and towed it 10 days after the theft, on Nov. 20. Police found the Mercedes in Memphis.
The second alleged Young Dolph’s gunman, Smith, was indicted earlier this week (Jan.10). He already traveled from Desoto County jail to Shelby County jail in Memphis. Memphis Fox 13 has reported Both Smith and Johnson have been charged with first-degree murder.
Undoubtedly, both Young Dolph’s gunmen have a challenging trial ahead of them with a combined six additional charges. Johnson has property theft charges between $10,000 and $60,000 and also an outstanding warrant for a violation of federal release. Meanwhile, Smith has additional charges of attempted first-degree murder, unlawfully carrying or possessing a weapon, employment of a firearm with intent to commit a felony, and theft of property between $10,000 and $60,000.
Getting Justice For Dolph
Johnson’s arrest comes a week after Memphis police put out a fugitive alert and a $15,000 reward for anyone willing to provide information on Young Dolph’s gunmen. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, the U.S. Marshals, the Memphis Police Department, and Crime Stoppers contributed to the $15,000 reward.
On Saturday (Jan. 8), Johnson took to his Instagram story to announce his culpability and intent to turn himself in. However, he seemingly used the attention solely for his new rap single ‘Track Hawk,’ as he remained on the run.
Nonetheless, Memphis police are one step closer to bringing justice to Young Dolph, his family, and the community.
