Chance the Rapper Turns Down Mcdonald’s Deal

Mcdonald’s is no stranger to successful, innovative celebrity endorsements and collaborations. As a multi-billion dollar corporation, these endorsements assist in their brands continued success. Using celebrities, especially those who are popular, well known, up and coming, or thriving in the media help establish a brand and differentiate them from their competitors.

Chance The Rapper took to Twitter, replying to designer, Joe Fresh Goods, who also mentioned a potential slight from the company, in conversation (see below):

Chance states that Mcdonald’s tried to slight him with their payment offer, so he politely declined the deal, ultimately leaving the company to hire a “fake him.” Some speculate that the deal he was referring to was Mcdonald’s 2017 Superbowl commercial release, see below.

It seems, though, that the thriving fast-food chain is not losing any sleep with its business and marketing. Their most recent collaboration was with rapper Travis Scott and the “Travis Scott Meal,” which is the rappers go to order whenever he grabs a bite from the restaurant. The meal includes a Quarter Pounder with cheese, lettuce and bacon, with medium fries and barbecue sauce.

Merchandise was also up for grabs during this collaboration, which included t-shirts, hoodies, denim shorts and more with the logo specially crafted for this collaboration.
