Yo! This New York City radio personalities battle is LIVE as hell! After Power 105’s The Breakfast Club host Charlamagne Tha God came for Hot 97’s Funkmaster Flex with the “Donkey of the Day” diss yesterday morning, Flex clapped back at him on his show last night CRAZY!
Flex had good reason to be charged up and go so hard. On top of being dragged through the Twitter streets all day like the village idiot, The Source magazine writer Azeem Khan started a Change.org petition to have the legendary DJ permanently removed from Hot 97, after Flex failed to deliver the Meek Mill vs. Drake diss track he promised. The petition garnered over 9,000 signatures in one day, and came with some very stinging words:
“This fraud of a DJ decided to lie to everyone for ratings and downloads of the Hot 97 app that Meek Mill would be on [Sunday night] to release a diss track to Drake to no avail. No one has given Hot 97 two hours of listening time since Biggie was alive, and it’s a crime to have taken that from us. The people have spoken and it is time for Funk Flex to step down.”
Good luck with that petition, young jedi. It’s highly unlikely Flex will be removed from his long-tenured post, no matter how many signatures you get. Hot 97 program director Ebro Darden was quick to defend Flex’s debacle on the airwaves yesterday. “Flex, Hot 97, and whoever else is on this radio station, we gotta take this heat,” Ebro barked. “Until we find out otherwise… That’s part of the game.”
But if you missed Flex going in on Charlamagne the past evening, Hot 97 will almost certainly post the show on YouTube later today, so check for it.
