Dre is working on yet another legendary project, a Biopic of Marvin Gaye!
Dre is burning up the headlines right now. In every way imaginable, he is making his mark on the world!
Dropping new music, opening a magnate school, and producing a major film project. Sometimes, life gives us the push to do all we can to create magic in the world while we have the opportunity. Dre is taking life by the horns, especially given his recent health scare.
It’s been a long time coming!
The Marvin Gaye Biopic has been in the works for a while now. Apparently, Dr Dre’s work on the biopic began in 2018. And now, three years later, the project is on track for production. And you already know, Jimmy Iovine will be partnering as co-producer along with Andrew Lazar. To add icing to the cake, none other than Allen Hughes of Menace II Society, Dead Presidents, and Book of Eli will direct.
Finally, this Marvin Gaye Biopic has been given the green light.
According to recent press, there have been major roadblocks to getting a Marvin Gaye Biopic off the ground. But, the Warner Brothers Company has put all their ducks in a row acquiring the necessary rights and privileges. In the words of Hughes
“All these big-name directors have tried for 35 years to consolidate these rights. This started with Dre, saying, “Let’s do this together,” and then Jimmy came on, and Andrew Lazar, and we worked with the estate, with Motown, tied down some other things, and we got it done.”
Now with the all-clear from Motown and Gaye’s estate, everything is looking up.
The Gaye Biopic promises to be a diamond project with a lot of polish.
According to sources, this biopic will be a little bit different from the traditional biopic. It is undoubtedly one of the costliest to produce, with an $80 million budget. But no one would expect any less; legends like Marvin Gaye deserve their stories told by the best in the best manner possible.
One thing is sure; this promises to be a production for the ages. Hughes, Dre, and the rest of the production team have worked feverishly to get this project off the ground. When there is passion in a project, it cannot go wrong. With all hopes, we will all be front and center in 2023 to see “What’s Going on!”
