Drake’s Ninth Week at Number 1 on Billboard All Part of “God’s Plan”

I guess it was all in “God’s Plan” as Drake’s Scary Hours single spends its ninth week at number 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 Charts.

From the positive nostalgia you get from the music video, or the dope punchlines like, “She say “do you love me?” I tell her “only partly” I only love my bed and my momma, I’m sorry” (bet you sang that part) that make this song always hype, but it’s a hit. Drake is an all-around entrepreneur within the music industry, but his “God’s Plan” project was more about philanthropy than an investment. Among issuing a $50,000 scholarship to a Miami college student, he also balled-out on a couple of families shopping sprees.

Whether people want to make the connection of its success on the charts to the philanthropy of the video, or just the overall popularity of Drake, it’s good to see the elite give back to their community – especially if it ends up being the entire budget of the production. Though Drake isn’t from Miami, in many of his songs he talks about how Miami has always shown him love, so it feels like a second home. Following trends, I’m sure Drake will walk away with another ‘W’ for the number 1 spot next week.

If my predictions are correct, for its tenth week on the charts, it would compete with songs like Kanye West’s “Gold Digger”, and even his own 2016 banger “One Dance” who both saw ten consecutive weeks at that number 1 spot.

If you haven’t yet heard the Scary Hours  EP, that’s quite scary but better late than never…
