Jay Rock releases 8-Bit Visual for “ES Tales”

Salutations FM Trendsetters! Its time to get it brackin! Jay Rock from the infamous Top Dawg Entertainment, which breeds emcees like Kendrick Lamar, Ab-Soul and School Boy Q, released the visual for his dope single “ES Tales“, off his “REDEMPTION” album. The interesting and very odd video was directed by Jack Begert and Dave Free (of the Little Homies) and released via Jay Rock’s VEVO/Youtube channel.  I say very interesting and odd video because you would think you was in an episode of Grand Theft Auto San Andreas.  If you was playing it on the first Playstation

The funniest thing about the video is the “1, 2,  Freddie coming for you” (Nightmare on Elm Street) type of cadence as Jay Rock wakes up.  Riding around his hood as a hood tour guide.  Meanwhile explaining the hardships of the environment around him and how to survive. Also remaining tough, despite the police brutality fiasco that has been in the news media lately.  The video definitely defines the beat, as the world around him is in this weird 8-bit video game graphics, as well as the Super Mario Bros. coin sound in the background.  Another funny moment is the 8-bit woman twerking and the TDE rapper’s retorted “Don’t You Know No Good” chant (mimicking 90s sitcom Martin’s crooner Elroy Presley) while it was happening.

The song itself was dope, with those PharrellMr. Me Too” vibes in the tone and drums.  It would’ve really been LIT if he had King Push b.k.a Pusha T of The Clipse featured in the video. Or maybe even labelmates Kendrick Lamar and School Boy Q.  It was bars, lessons, and storytelling with an awesome visual.  Homie was “boolin brazily through the hood spitting about one-time, marks and flaggin brazy in East Side Bompton.” That pretty much sums it all up!
