DAMN. Rapper’s DAMN. Album is Double Platinum
The Good Kid from a M.A.A.D. City can now add another platinum plaque to the list. As if it was not already a breath of fresh air for the To Pimp A Butterfly emcee’s DAMN. to go platinum back in May, with 603,000 copies sold in the first week. Not to mention being the biggest first week sales for this year, number one on the Top 200 Billboard charts, and beating out Drake‘s More Life album, by 100,000 units.
The controversial album reached the double platinum status, according to the Record Industry Association of America (RIAA) seven days ago. The DAMN. album also became the highest-selling album of this year, so far.
According to XXL Magazine, the Swimming Pools artist is currently on the road with Goosebumps rapper Travis Scott and D.R.A.M. (Broccoli) for his DAMN. Tour, which saw it’s first stop in Arizona, five days ago (July 12). The kick-off of the tour seemed to be a huge success, as the footage shows the entire crowd singing all of the words to his smash hit, “Humble.” No wonder K. Dot, the self-proclaimed humble Israelite, is celebrating massive success.
Kendrick Lamar‘s DAMN. album is currently riding the number three spot on the Billboard Top 200, according to Hot New Hip Hop (HNHH). Obviously the new album is solidifying the spot in this current music industry, and in Hip Hop. Especially for a conscious type of album. Something that has been missing for years.
It looks like it took more than Kendrick Lamar‘s “left stroke” to go viral. Congratulations on your double platinum success Mr. Humble! We are rest assure that Top Dawg Entertainment is having a great summer.
