Meek Mill, the Philadelphia native, is moving from the recording studio to the big screen. The rapper announced he is partnering with Amazon to make a docuseries titled “Free Meek”. The docuseries will follow the artist’s fight for justice as he works to get his name cleared for violating his probation for a crime a couple years ago. Meek Mill says his goal is also to point out the flaws in the country’s criminal justice system.

The Jay-Z produced series doesn’t have an official release yet date but it is confirmed it will be dropping sometime this summer. Meek Mill debuted the first sneak peek at his recent concert in Philadelphia. The minute long trailer shows concert footage and interviews from the rapper. A voice, assumed to be an attorney, is heard saying “I have never seen a case built on less”. Meek is also seen in an interview saying “I never really looked at it as a nightmare. I looked at it as real life for a black kid in America.”

The docuseries will be available this summer exclusively on Amazon Prime.
