Jay-Z and Kanye West reunite for track on new album "DONDA"

Kanye West premiered his new album, “DONDA“, at an Apple Music-streamed event on Thursday night. The listening party was held in Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Longtime collaborators Jay-Z and Kanye West reunited for a track at the end of the event. This marks the first collaboration for the duo since the two participated in Drake’s 2016 single “Pop Style.”.

According to a tweet from Young Guru, JAY-Z, 51, recorded his verse just hours before the listening event. This reunion of the legendary duo implies that the two have made up after years of animosity.

“Told him to stop all that red cap, we going home,” Jay-Z raps. “Cannot be with all of these sins casting stones/This might be the return of The Throne, Throne/Hova and Yeezus like Moses and Jesus/You’re not in control of my thesis.”

West took the stage in the centre of the arena, playing songs featuring Lil Baby, Lil Durk, Pusha T, Travis Scott, and more. The event came to a head when the track featuring the first Jay-Z and Kanye West collaboration in over four years was unveiled. The album, entitled “DONDA” after West’s late mother Donda West was also reportedly previewed in Las Vegas this weekend. Donda West tragically passed away at the age of 58 in 2007 as a result of plastic surgery complications.

Earlier this week West also shared a new Beats commercial featuring sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson and a preview of his new song “No Child Left Behind.”. “Love Your Truth,” reads the tagline, which also gave information on the “DONDA” listening event. The full album is scheduled to be released Friday, July 23 but at this time is not out for streaming.
