After buying a new home in Malibu just a week ago, Kanye West has now bought a new apartment in Belgium as a bachelor’s pad. He had made the purchase to celebrate “being single after six years of marriage.”
West and Kim Kardashian were married for six years before getting a divorce. They had been separated since late 2020.Kardashian did not file for divorce until February 19, 2021. The reasoning they both gave is due to irreconcilable differences. They have joint custody over their children. It is unknown how this will affect the arrangement.
One such example of these differences is, in 2019, West had bought two ranches in Wyoming. Kardashian did not like the house, as shown by her never going to that estate. She preferred the city life of Calabasas to rural areas. Now that they are separated, however, West can live wherever he wants without worrying about what Kardashian does and doesn’t like. He can buy homes around the world and there is nothing anyone can do to stop him.
Life in Belgium for West
The pad is in an exclusive neighborhood outside of Antwerp. At least one of his neighbors, Peter Hoste, doesn’t recognize him. Hoste said: “I think Kanye thought it was funny that I had absolutely no idea who he was.” West should have expected this. The Belgian hip hop scene is very different from America’s. To add to that, West has never promoted himself over there. It all makes sense that he would not be as easily recognized.
Axel Vervoordt is the one refurbishing the crib. Vervoordt is West’s interior decorator, having worked on several of his previous estates. Vervoordt also is based out of Antwerp, Belgium. The proximity of West’s new apartment to Vervoodt’s home is no coincidence. The two have been friends ever since Vervoodt worked on the Calabasas house.
