Kodak Black finally received a sentence in the case of sexual misconduct from 2016 against a high school girl. The Florida rapper pled guilty to first-degree assault and battery on Wednesday. Instead of serving what could be a 10-year sentence, Black took a plea deal and received 18 months of probation. The terms of his plea deal were that he takes full accountability and publicly apologizes.
This isn’t the first time Kodak has gotten lucky
Recently, Kodak had a previous sentence commuted. Former President Donald Trump pardoned him among 73 others in his finals days in office. He served almost half of a 46-month sentence after lying on a federal document while trying to purchase a firearm. Following the commute, Kodak released “Last Day In,” where he talked about his feelings on his release after serving two years.
There are many mixed reactions following the verdict
Many people thought Kodak’s apology was insincere and he deserved a harsher sentence. Since he has only been out of jail for a short time, his fans were very happy at the news that he would not be going back any time soon. With the Florida rapper’s extensive history of crime and jail time, fans are happy to see that Kodak will be free to make new music and possibly perform in the future.
