“I got named by a crackhead.” Lil Uzi shared this past weekend. Lil Uzi Vert is a peculiar rap name indeed. Until now, he has regarded “some guy” as the reason for it.
Uzi shared that an “infamous crackhead” gave him his name, during a live stream. He also credits the crackhead as a “good guy”.
Born Symere Bysil Woods, Lil Uzi hails from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His introduction to the rap arena came from his affiliation to Steaktown. At this point in time, he says it was “just for money” under the name “Sealab Vertical.”
In 2016, Uzi told Vibe, “Some guy was just like ‘you rap fast, man, like a little machine gun’ and from that moment I was Lil Uzi.” When asked how he achieved his success, he answered, “It’s weird, but I just stopped thinking and started moving,” says Uzi. “I just stopped thinking so hard.” His rap career took off after his signing with Atlantic Records.
Who can forget his first appearance on Migo’s “Bad and Boujee” track? The song topped the Billboard charts in 2017 and gained him unpronounced attention. Coupled with his “XO Tour Lif3” in June 2017, it was clear that Uzi was on his way up.
