Logic announces new music after coming out of retirement with producer Madlib
Logic’s retirement didn’t even make it a year. Last July, Logic announced retirement with his album No Pressure, a spiritual successor to his acclaimed mixtape Under Pressure. He announced he was retiring from music to be with his family more. Logic also embarked on his career in gaming, signing an exclusive deal on Twitch. The deal was projected to amount to about seven figures. However, Logic’s succumbed to his love of rap and is now slated to make his return with legendary producer Madlib.
Madlib has been getting his well-overdue praise for his work with Freddie Gibbs on the critically acclaimed album Bandana. His work has been well-documented and now is working with Logic on a new project.
A new beginning
Logic and Madlib formed the duo MadGic and have been releasing songs as a collective for the last few weeks. The first song was Mars Only, Pt. 3, where we hear Logic rhyme for over 3 minutes about his legacy to struggle. They also released a second single called “Raddest Dad ”, where he speaks on his come up and family. He also divulges why he retired on a reversed sample at the end of the track.
“I retired, but I’ve been making music every single day since I retired because I love it. And then I think what I realized was that I don’t like the industry. So I think I want to retire from the industry. That’s why I wanna do this music for free.”
On Sunday, they released a third single, entitled “Mafia Music” where he finally said that there is a real project coming, even saying that they did the album in one night.
We are excited about the new MadGic album and can’t wait to hear what they have cooking up!
