November 8, Megan Thee Stallion humbly stood in acceptance of the title of Glamour’s 2021 Woman of the Year. Better yet, legendary queens of hip-hop Salt-N-Pepa presented her with the honor.
Megan’s Queendom
Queen’s rule not only with power but with elegance and unsurpassed strength. Their titles are badges of honor recognizing their efforts and stature. Megan Thee Stallion, rap’s resident queen, has proven that she is worthy of every title bestowed upon her.
The honor of Glamour Woman of the Year celebrates her beauty, talent, work ethic, strength, and success, despite her struggles. Not only is Megan a superstar talent with multiple honors under her belt; she is a student, a businesswoman, and a recent graduate of Texas Southern University. Shoutout TSU ladies!
However, titles are more not the only badge of honor a queen needs; respect from others, especially those on similar grinds, also matters.
Queens Recognize Queens
Salt-N-Pepa, whose decades of work in the hip-hop industry speak to their strength, talent, and perseverance, proudly presented Megan with the honor.
Pepa’s words were more than a testament to all that the young artist is working to achieve.
“We helped open doors, yes, we did. But Megan, came and kicked the door down, pulled up a seat at the table, ordered a big dinner and poured Hottie Sauce all over the d*** thing. She represents what I stand for,”
Legends recognizing legends? That is a great honor.
Megan’s Royalty on Display
Megan, in all her queendom, truly represents grace under fire. And what’s more, she champions others to rise to their greatest potential. She spoke to this mindset in her heartfelt acceptance speech at the awards ceremony.
In her own words:
“There’s nothing women can’t achieve when we recognize that—that there can be more than one female scientist, scholar, actress, poet or rapper. There’s room at the table for all of us, and when there isn’t, we need to make room.
Megan is right; greats make room for others to be great. But even more so, they don’t forget where they came from or how they arrived.
The Wind Beneath Thee Stallion’s Wings
Megan certainly stands as proof of what one can accomplish with the proper motivation and support. When peaking of her mother and grandmother, Megan let the world in on who helped make her success possible.
“I stand before you on the shoulders of her [my mom] and my great-grandmother Big Mama, who also helped shaped me in every way possible. Strong, generous, patient, and kind that’s who they were, and I thank God every day that I grew up under them.”
Thanking the family who made her, Megan showed humility in action.
