Grammy-award-winning producer Noah “40” Shebib has released a 14-minute mini-documentary titled “Toronto Rising – 40’s Very Own.” Directed by Alim Sabir, it is available now to watch on his Youtube channel in partnership with Native Instruments.
“Toronto Rising” gives a behind-the-scenes look at the backstory of 40 and the legacy he has built. It includes never-before-seen home videos and archived footage of his early years with Drake, such as working on the 2007 “Comeback Season” EP. The 14-minute spectacle also discusses 40’s ongoing battle with Multiple Sclerosis.
“I’ve always considered myself a visitor in hip hop. When I was 21, I got diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. I learned a lesson in the hospital … as long as I had like one finger that still worked, no matter what the world took from me, I could play the keyboard and … make music. All the things in my life just kind of pointed me in one direction. I’m here to play my part and to leave my impact.”
With his backstory, the documentary clearly serves as a love letter to Hip-Hop and also to Toronto. Since starting, his catalog has been quite impressive, inspiring many to continue to pursue their dreams.
