Friday, Dec 2, Houston Police Chief Troy Finner confirmed that an arrest had occurred in conjunction with the death of Takeoff. Here are the details.
The Arrest Of Patrick Xavier Clark
Unfortunately, the investigation into Takeoff’s death is taking a while due to various factors. With witnesses unwilling to come forward, the force has had to rely on multiple surveillance methods, including video, cell phone, and audio footage. But reportedly, not all the surveillance was immediately available.
However, through event reconstruction, the investigative team was able to confirm ballistics. And according to fox5Atlanta, through these various means, they were able to deduce Patrick Clark was the shooter.
Thursday, Dec 1, the police picked up Patrick Xavier Clark in conjunction with the murder of late hip-hop artist Takeoff. And Clark is now being under arrest on a murder charge.
Remaining Gaps
Houston PD is yet to confirm whether Clark was an invitee to the dice game or what precisely led to the shooting. However, they know an argument ensued during a lucrative game of dice. And according to Sergeant Michael Burrow, Takeoff was unarmed and had no involvement in the game or the argument. Instead, he was a bystander who got under the crossfire.
Further Details On Clark
Additional details indicate that Clark had suspiciously applied to expedite his passport. In support of that application was a travel itinerary for a flight to Mexico. Clark was also in possession of a large sum of cash.
So, per Harris County prosecutor Matt Gilliam, “they believe Cameron Joshua has been appropriately charged in this case.”
Investigation Continues
Clark’s arrest does not conclude the investigation. The police are still actively seeking information from witnesses of the incident. Investigators have determined that over 30 people were observers. As Burrow notes,
“Literally, every single one of those people left the scene without giving a statement to the police,”
While a few have been located, others have pertinent information that could be useful. So, the authorities are urging whoever has any information to come forward.
Still More To Do
Today there is a slight reassurance that law enforcement has identified and charged Takeoff’s murder suspect. However, there is much left to uncover, and it is with high hopes that investigators find all the evidence necessary to bring about a conviction.
