Pharell and Pusha T: two like-minded legends. See why Pusha T gave some props to a fellow rap vet while onstage.
Giving Pharell A Standing Ovation
Following the release of his first-ever no. 1 album It’s Almost Dry, Pusha T kicked off his tour of the same name. During a Saturday show, the Virginia rapper insisted Pharrell come on stage and thanked him for the contributions to his certainly impressive career.
“Without Pharrell, there is no ‘It’s almost Dry’,” Pusha T said to the audience. “He brought a whole different dynamic to my album, Man I love you, bro, for everything, always. You brought me in this game, you taught me everything! Everything! Clothes, dressing, what you want? You did it. Real shit, no lie.”
Pharrell of course was quick to return the favor, happily giving the 45-year-old his flowers.
Man, I am just so proud of my brother,” he began. “He’s been doing this for over 20-years. Number one album in the country. Everybody has been talking about it, y’all know this is the best one. Thank you for being so supportive all these years. And you gotta know when it comes to real masterpieces, when you know you really got one, that’s the thing you say, ‘its almost dry.’”
Close Ties Don’t Break
Pharrell and Pusha T have several songs together including their most recent hit ‘Neck and Wrist.’ Lucky Fans were treated to a live performance of these anthems that night. Aside from ‘neck and wrist’, this pair has joined forces on move that dope and stay with me. However, that’s only their history with Pusha specifically as a solo artist.
Pharrell, along with Chad Hugo, produced for tons of artists as The Neptunes throughout the 2000’s. One of those artists was the rap duo Clipse. This group, consisting of Pusha T and his brother Malice, teamed up with the Neptunes for their 2002 album Lord Willin. In addition to this, The Neptunes stepped in again for Clipse’s 2006 record Hell Hath No Fury. Clearly, these two well-rounded rappers have a strong personal and professional relationship.
