Nicki Minaj is a female rapper who has been known as the queen of rap for the longest. Many would agree and disagree, depending on what they know about the rap culture. Minaj has worked to get to where she is and has won “Queen of Rap.”

Nicki Minaj’s rap career

The rapper has fought her way to the top in the industry while working in a male-dominated field. She writes her own verses and has gain respect from male rappers. Not only that, but when she raps, she talks about relatable things. Minaj is creative and versatile. She’s able to do different genres and has the ability to change flows. An example of her versatility is Pop, Reggae, Trap, Hip Hop, R& B, and the list going on because she’s queen. According to the “50 Best Rappers of Hip Hop in 2021,” Nicki Minaj is number 45 on the billboard and was the only female there.

Women in the rap industry

Rapping as a female in the industry requires talent because an artist competes with female and male rappers. It is important to stay relevant in the media because many people are fighting to get the title. In a society with race issues, black women have to leave a mark and work harder to be seen. In a  YouTube video with Time, Nicki Minaj said it better: “I think black women are held to higher standards.” Minaj is a hard worker who encountered many problems with female musicians in the industry. Her latest tension was with Cardi B on a track they sang together with the Migos called “MotorSport.” Many listeners felt that both women were insulting each other. Apart from that, people like drama and want to cause problems for entertainment.
